Since this is a proportion we cross multiply.
b+2/b-1=4/5
b-1(4)=b+2(5)
  4b-4=5b+10
    +4 = +4
     4b=5b+14
    -5b=-5b
    -1b=14
divide by -1 on both sides
b=-14
